About Alabama Course of Study & ACT Testing

The Alabama Course of Study standards are a set of academic standards that outline the knowledge and skills students should acquire in each subject area throughout K-12.

It provides a blueprint for teachers to ensure that students receive a consistent and high-quality education across the state. The standards are aligned with national standards, ensuring that students are prepared for college and careers.

The state of Alabama does not administer Course of Study exams for high school students. However, districts or individual schools may administer exams aligned with the state’s Courses of Study.

Alabama does require students to take the ACT as a graduation requirement, and Progress Learning has prep for all subjects tested on the ACT. In addition to preparation for the standard ACT, Progress Learning also helps students prepare for the ACT Workkeys to make sure your students are prepared for college or the workplace.

"For ACT, we use Progress Learning as a source of material. Students take a pretest and then work through their own lesson plan based on the results of that pretest. The ACT pieces are realistic and good practice for the upcoming online ACT testing platform. Progress Learning’s customer service is amazing."
