What is the Standards of Learning Test?
The SOL Test is the Virginia Department of Education’s exam based on the state’s Standards of Learning. At the high school level, students are administered End of Course exams based on the subjects they study each year.

Assessments are usually administered in the spring, and provide a measure of student benchmarks relative to the Virginia Standards of Learning — both to determine where individual students need additional support, and identify which schools are excelling or struggling in teaching standards.
